Our practice was founded in 1968 by my father-in-law. In the beginning it was a Maico (not the auto paint company) franchise. It was one of the first hearing aid centers in Mesa and the whole East Valley at the time. Like most franchises he featured one brand of hearing aid product – Maico. In those days most styles were behind the ear, built into the frame of eye glasses or even body aids with big battery packs in the shirt pocket. Later, custom in-the-ear models were introduced. However, the business revolved around the sale and service of one product line. Testing was basic and the circuitry was analog which means it had an amplifier with a volume control and eventually a button to change programs or activate the telephone coil.

In 1990 my father-in-law retired having built one of the most successful customer service driven single brand hearing aid practices in the East Valley. That’s when his daughter (my wife, Connie) and I decided to purchase the practice. Soon thereafter we dropped the franchise label in order to offer our patients more brands and choices including programmable hearing aids with advanced circuitry and smaller styles. However, old fashion customer service remained “king”.

After 25 years on Stapley Road in Mesa we moved the practice in 1995 to Main Street and Greenfield Road to better serve our patients as Mesa was growing and expanding to the east. At the same time digital hearing devices were introduced. Because I had extensive experience with digital technology in the healthcare industry, I felt digital hearing instruments would be the “wave of the future”. Consequently, we partnered with the two hearing aid manufacturers at the time who developed the technology. Our practice was the first to introduce digital hearing technology to patients in the East Valley and sure enough along with wireless connectivity it has been and continues to be the wave of the future.

After several years we had patients coming to our Mesa location from all over the East Valley. In 2002 we opened another full service office in Sun Lakes. That office continues today to be the primary provider of professional hearing care in the Sun Lakes community.

Now, after 20 years on Main Street, we have moved our Mesa office into state-of-art facilities along the Superstition “medical” corridor on Higley Road and Southern Avenue. This location is between the two Banner Health Centers and near most of the East Valley medical community.
