Hearing aid troubleshooting tips
Often, you can diagnose and remedy many hearing aid problems at home using these tips.
When your hearing aid appears to be dead, double-check that it is fully in the “on” position. Then check to see that it wasn’t accidentally moved to the telecoil setting. Next, change the batteries and finally make sure that the battery door is completely shut.
If your hearing aids power up, but the sound is distorted, the batteries may need replacement. Performance is affected by battery strength. Replace the batteries and close the battery door firmly.
Excess earwax in your ear or on the hearing aid causes a poor fit that leads to whistling and feedback. Clean your hearing aids and your ears and reinsert the hearing aid. If this doesn’t remedy the problem, call Alliance Center for Hearing so we can check the fit.
Warranty repairs
Every hearing aid sold by Alliance Center for Hearing comes with a manufacturer warranty. If you have any problems with your hearing aids, bring them to us. Even if you didn’t buy your hearing aids from Alliance Center for Hearing, we may be able to assist you with warranty repairs.
Often, these repairs can be made while you wait. If the repair isn’t covered by warranty, we’ll give you an estimate of the repair cost and discuss your options. If your hearing aids are five or more years old, it may be best to replace them.
Regular maintenance
Bring your hearing aids into Alliance Center for Hearing and let our audiologist perform a deep cleaning. In addition to the regular cleaning you do at home, this deep cleaning will help your devices perform better and last longer.
